Hakatere 其实是新西兰Ashburton（阿什伯顿）地区的毛利名，Ashburton地区由于得天独厚的自然环境，成为了农业生产重镇。Hakatere起源于Ashburton，其故事可以追溯到1920年，创始人Reginald John Syme在新西兰Ashbueton区的Somers山脚下因一次蜂群偶遇后，创建了以家族姓氏命名的Symes蜂场。也许是命运的安排，Symes三代每一位都迷恋于养蜂事业，这使得Syme家族越来越专业，便开启了一个世纪的养蜂传奇。
